# João Raul Furtado Lucas

> Forward deployed engineer in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Builds back-end systems that have to stay correct under load (transaction approval, reconciliation, invoicing). Currently at Telepatia, integrating clinical AI with hospital systems.

## Experience

- Telepatia AI (Aug 2026 – now): forward deployed engineer on a clinical AI platform. Builds integrations between the product and hospitals' clinical systems.
- Singular (Dec 2025 – Aug 2026): software engineer, invoicing and payments. Designed a configurable approval workflow for high-value transactions (threshold routing, limits per business unit, full audit trail), governing R$230M+ a month; led the reconciliation pipeline redesign (12 Redis-backed workers, batching, caching: peak SQL Server connections ~400 → 12, runtime 40 → 15 min); reliability work on a regulated invoicing service (25K+ invoices/month, 99.99% success); new invoice-request microservice that absorbed ~150% YoY growth with no downstream regressions.
- Nelogica (Jun 2024 – Nov 2025): software engineer, market data. Led the performance work on an end-of-day closing workflow for an asset manager: execution plans, targeted indexes and batched writes cut execution time by 80% (5–6M records/day); 35%+ faster WebSocket ingestion (~1,000 records/sec).
- IFSUL (2023): teaching assistant, object-oriented programming.

## Projects

- [critique-hook](https://github.com/jrlucas1/claude-critique-hook): a second LLM reviews a coding agent's plans before they land. Python, MCP.
- timesheet-automation: builds timesheets from Jira, GitHub and Azure DevOps activity. TypeScript, React.
- [farmanage](https://github.com/jrlucas1/TCC): offline-first livestock and farm management app. React Native.

## Writing

<!-- writing:start -->
- [A 144M-parameter model playing Counter-Strike on my PC](https://joaoraul.dev/writing/julia-plays-counter-strike/) (2026-09-29): A SourceMod plugin and a Python bridge let Julia 1, a small open model from Supersonic Labs, pick a bot's next move in Counter-Strike in about 28 ms per decision.
- [Protobuf Was 14× Faster Than JSON. Then I Fed It Text.](https://joaoraul.dev/writing/protobuf-vs-json/) (2026-06-25): I ran 81 BenchmarkDotNet cases comparing System.Text.Json, MessagePack and protobuf-net. Binary was 14× faster on numbers and tied with JSON on text.
- [We Built a Timesheet Auto-Filler by Removing Every Layer We Started With](https://joaoraul.dev/writing/timesheet-auto-filler/) (2026-06-18): A timesheet tool that maps Jira tickets and Git commits onto working days with Gemini. Reliability came from deleting the MCP layer and a time-tracking integration.
- [Superpowered Ralph: a phased Ralph Wiggum loop for Claude Code](https://joaoraul.dev/writing/superpowered-ralph/) (2026-03-24): Wiring the ralph-loop skill to the Superpowers skill set so Claude Code works through design, planning, implementation, verification and review, looping back on failures.
- [I automated my brag document with Claude Code](https://joaoraul.dev/writing/automated-brag-document/) (2026-03-19): A weekly scheduled task scans my git history, Jira tickets and PRs, finds the work that never had a ticket, and writes it all to a Notion page.
